Basant Returns to Lahore: Two-Day Festival Approved with Strict Safety Measures in Historic Zones

According to in an important meeting chaired by Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, it was decided that the Basant festival will be held for only two days on Saturday and Sunday. It has been proposed to allow Basant on a limited basis in inner Lahore areas.

It has been proposed to celebrate Basant in the Shahi Qila, Mochi Gate, Bhati Gate, and Rang Mahal zones.

The administration has prepared a safe plan for Basant and submitted it to the government. There will be a complete ban on the use of sharp metal, nylon, and chemical strings. Only strings made of cotton or starch will be allowed. Bar codes will be made mandatory on strings and kites.

Strict action will be taken against unregistered kite sellers, and a crackdown will be launched against those who make and sell unsafe strings.

In addition, it is proposed to ban the entry of motorcycles in Basant areas, and safety nets and wire protection systems will be installed on main roads.
